The data center proposed by developer Brian O’Neill is not on the December 15th agenda for the Plymouth Township Zoning Hearing Board. O’Neill has been working to receive permission to convert the former steel mill at 900 Conshohocken Road in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township), but has met neighborhood opposition, and most recently had a dispute with Cleveland-Cliffs, the property owner, over the contract to acquire the property.
The dispute with Cleveland-Cliffs took place during a previous zoning hearing in November. O’Neill’s attorney withdrew the application. December 15th was the next hearing date the application could be considered.
Sources tell us there is still an active effort on O’Neill’s part to move forward and seek approval. As we previously reported, the property was relisted for sale about a week before the November zoning hearing, and it remains an active listing on LoopNet.com. That could indicate O’Neill has not yet reached an agreement with Cleveland-Cliffs.
We will continue to follow developments regarding the proposal as they happen.
The podcast Today, Explained, covered the opposition to data centers on its December 1st episode. It includes interviews with the organizers of the location opposition in Conshohocken. Listen below.
