Quinnipiac University Poll gives the latest details on how Pennsylvania’s voters feel about AI data centers

According to a Quinnipiac University Poll published on July 15th, 26% of voters in Pennsylvania are following news coverage of AI data centers very closely, while 50% report following somewhat closely. 24% offered that they are following not too closely.

When it comes to having an AI data center in their community, 74% oppose it, while 16% would support the effort. 10% offered no opinion.

“Nothing artificial about Pennsylvania voters’ take on the advent of AI,” said Tim Malloy, polling analyst for Quinnipiac. “Opposition grows as the inevitable new industry plants roots in their neighborhoods.”

Quinnipiac University’s poll from February 25th found that 68% would oppose an AI data center in their community, while 20% would support it. 12% did not offer an opinion.

Regarding how voters feel about Governor Josh Shapiro’s handling of the issue, 24% approve while 34% disapprove. 42% did not offer an opinion.

The poll included 895 self-identified registered voters in Pennsylvania, surveyed from July 9th through July 13th. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.3 percentage points, including the design effect. You can find the methodology here.
