Results of the Wawa Survey

MoreThanTheCurve.com’s survey on the proposed Wawa concluded on Friday. The survey’s first question attempted to filter the participants into three groups (residents of the Borough of Conshohocken, those who live in 19428, but not the Borough itself, and everyone else).

From there, everyone was asked if they support or are against amending the zoning code to allow the proposed Wawa. Those who support making the change, were then asked if they would prefer something else (which there were several options) at the property or “just give me the damn Wawa.”

Those who did not support making the chance to allow the Wawa were asked what other use for the property they desired.

Here ate the numbers:

Total Respondents

  • 923 respondents
  • 598 claim to be residents of the Borough of Conshohocken
  • 192 claim to be residents of the 19428 zip code outside the Borough of Conshohocken
  • 131 claim they live elsewhere

Borough of Conshohocken Residents

  • Of the 598 who claimed to live in the Borough of Conshohocken, 60% (350 respondents) support amending the zoning code to allow a 24-hour Wawa with gas pumps.
  • 40% (234 respondents) do not support the Wawa

Residents of 19428, but not the Borough

  • Of the 192 of those who claimed to live within 19428, but outside the Borough of Conshohocken, 70% want the Wawa.
  • 30% do not support the Wawa

Live Elsewhere

  • Of those who live elsewhere, 76% want the Wawa
  • 24% do not support the Wawa

Follow-Up Question

The response to the follow-up question shows there is a significant portion of Wawa’s supporter that aren’t adamant. Overall, 37% of respondents who expressed support for the Wawa, selected another preferred use for that property given the choice. The most popular selection was “market.” 63% selected “just give me the damn Wawa.”

Of those who selected that they did not support the Wawa, 56% selected a market as a preferred use for the property.

Please note that this is an unscientific survey. There is no way for us to know if the people who claimed to live in the Borough, actually live in the Borough, etc.

You can see all the results here. Many of the “other” filled in responses are funny.
