“Run More with Less” With CoreFitness

If you’re a seasoned distance runner, you understand what it means to train:  long miles, ice baths, foam rollers, KT tape, and then  some. Just like putting miles on a car, with distance comes wear and tear on those legs of ours. With this in mind, more and more programs are developing that help people train for distance with less pavement pounding (and thus less stress on our muscles and joints). Enter CoreFitness’ new clinic, “Running More With Less”.

The CoreFitness team uses concepts similar to those found in this article by Competitor Magazine to show new and seasoned runners alike how to utilize different training modalities to simulate mileage without going the actual distance. The clinic will incorporate cross-training that strengthens the cardio and muscular systems, along with training runs that use speed bursts, hills, and “fitness challenges” sprinkled in to build runner’s power and endurance. Participants get a complete 8-week training plan that incorporates no more than 16 accumulated miles in any given week, with the longest training run being 8 miles.

Caitlin Langan, NASM-CPT and running enthusiast will be leading this program for CoreFitness. Caitlin is also offering coaching and training to anyone interested in this program that lives in the Conshohocken area, but can’t necessarily make it to Philadelphia every week.
