Santander Bank closing branch in Whitemarsh Township Building in Lafayette Hill

On the agenda for the May 6th meeting of the Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors is an item pertaining to the commercial space within the township building. The township currently rents space to Santander Bank for $83,000 annually.

In an April 29th memo to the board of supervisors, Township Manager Richard Mellow notified the supervisors that Santander Bank is terminating its lease as of November 2021. The bank will be paying a lump sum to fulfill its lease agreement. The board of supervisors will vote on the termination agreement during its May 13th meeting.

It is not clear as to whether Santander Bank is leaving the Lafayette Hill market or moving to a new location. It has a branch in Conshohocken and ATMs at several CVS locations in the area.

During the May 6th meeting there will be a discussion as to whether the township should consider another use for the space or seek a new commercial tenant.

The meeting will be held virtually at 6:00 p.m. Details on how to participate can be found in the agenda (linked above).
