Spring Garden Street Bridge in West Conshohocken to Close for Construction

The Borough of West Conshohocken has posted to its website information on the closing of the Spring Garden Street Bridge, which crosses over the Schuykill Expressway. The bridge is closing for construction and will commence on Monday, June 12th. If you aren’t familar with Spring Garden Street, it begins with the steep hill next to the Wawa on Crawford Avenue. Here is what the Borough posted:

The Borough has just been informed that beginning Monday, June 12, the Spring Garden Street Bridge over Interstate 76 will be closed to both pedestrian and vehicle traffic between Chestnut Street and Spruce Lane in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County.

During construction, Spring Garden Street motorists will be detoured over Crawford Avenue, Route 23 (Conshohocken State Road). Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

As part of the rehabilitation, crews will repair the existing concrete bridge deck using hydro demolition and apply a latex modified concrete overlay, reseal deck joints at the abutments, install new guiderail as well as complete other scheduled repairs.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area because slowdowns will occur. The work schedule is weather dependent.

It is anticipated that the closure will be in place approximately one month. The detour will be posted and signage installed. Access to local businesses and driveways will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.

We will update this story when the reopening is announced.
