It looks like Conshohocken’s days as a steel town are officially over. Earlier this year, Cleveland-Cliffs, the steel plant’s current owner, announced it was idling the plant at 900 Conshohocken Road in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township). At the time, the idling was not announced as permanent; however, that was followed by Cleveland-Cliffs sharing that they had lots of interest in the 66-acre property. On August 4th, The Philadelphia Journal reported that the property has now been officially listed for sale.
From the article:
While the property is zoned for heavy industrial use, it could be redeveloped into a variety of uses including distribution warehouse, data center or even multifamily residential, said Binswanger’s Tim Pennington, the listing agent for the property.
“It’s just a once-in-a-generation opportunity to own a piece of ground this big zoned heavy industrial in Conshohocken. They don’t come along very often,” said Binswanger’s Chris Pennington, who also has the listing. “We expect competition for this site to be fierce and significant. There are going to be a lot of groups that are going to try to acquire this property.”
