The Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company has announced that three fire fighters were injured during the response to a house fire on January 15th just after 8:30 p.m. along the 700 block of Germantown Pike in Whitemarsh Township.
The house fire spread rapidly due to the strong winds and freezing temperatures. Two of the injured firefighters suffered burns while searching the home for potential victims. The other fell as the result of ice and has a shoulder injury. All three are recovering at home. The names of the firefighters were not released, nor the fire companies they represent. Overall, 17 fire companies were part of the response to the fire.
No residents were home at the time of the fire. Two pets perished in the fire.
