The US Quadball Cup will be held on Saturday, April 15th and Sunday, April 16th at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken. The tournament features collegiate and club teams and is considered the pinnacle of the competitive season and the sport’s largest spectator event of the year. Teams qualified for the tournament through regional championships and at-large bids.
Quadball is a fast-paced, contact sport created in 2005 and played in over 39 countries. A quadball team consists of up to 21 athletes with seven players per team on the field at any one time. Each player must keep a broom between their legs at all times.
People are likely more familiar with the sport under the name quidditch, which was introduced in the Harry Potter series of books by J. K. Rowling. In 2022, the quidditch name was dropped by the two main organizations promoting the sport in the United States due to concerns over Rowling’s comments on trans issues and the fact that Warner Brothers owned the trademark.
Tickets are available for the tournament. You can find the details here.
