Merion Health Partners, which owns and operates locations of AFC Urgent Care throughout the Philadelphia region has acquired the Tower Health Urgent Care located at 400 Fayette Street in Conshohocken (the borough hall building). This location will be absorbed by the existing location of AFC Urgent Care at the Whitemarsh Shopping Center and the downtown Conshohocken space will be utilized by the company as its corporate office.
Matthew Maiorino, the managing partner of Merion Health Partners, offered the following statement to MoreThanTheCurve.com:
We will absorb the Conshohocken location as a part of a larger transaction. Prior to Tower closing it, the location was suffering from very low patient counts. The main issue there was a lack of parking, which therefore leads to inaccessibility. Higher acuity health concerns require quick access and without parking, it really caps your patient counts, making it very hard to remain solvent. We will instead transform it into corporate office space for our parent company, Merion Health Partners. We will continue to serve the Conshohocken community through our location at Ridge & Butler in the Giant-anchored center.
The Philadelphia Business Journal has an extensive article about Tower Health and the larger transaction with operators of AFC Urgent Care.
The Tower Health Urgent Care in Conshohocken had been temporarily closed on and off the past year (it is currently listed as temporarily closed). The location in Plymouth Meeting has also been closed, but was not part of the transaction with AFC Urgent Care.
