Update – Montgomery County District Attorney and West Conshohocken’s Police Chief announce arrest in West Conshohocken fatal shooting

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and West Conshohocken Borough Police Chief Salvatore Carfagno have announced the arrest of 26-year-old Michael Dutkiewicz of Warminster for the shooting homicide of 25-year-old Alyssa Rose Wiest of West Conshohocken just after midnight on May 18th. Please note the district attorney’s announcement states he lives in Warminster, while the court documents show Warrington.

According to the announcement, the West Conshohocken police were dispatched on May 18th at 12:25 a.m. to the 200 block of Moorehead Avenue for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female, later identified as Alyssa Wiest, lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to her torso. She was transported to Lankenau Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A joint homicide investigation by the West Conshohocken Borough Police and Montgomery County Detectives found that “the door to the victim’s residence, a few doors from where she was found, was ajar, and there was blood found both inside her residence and along the sidewalk leading to her body. Montgomery County Detectives processed the scene and recovered five projectiles, located both inside the residence and outside by the body.”

The investigation determined that Wiest and Dutkiewicz had been in a relationship for the past two years. A neighbor of Wiest saw Dutkiewicz standing by his silver Ford F-150 truck immediately after the shooting, and the truck was then seen leaving the area. The truck was tracked through multiple license plate readers as it traveled from West Conshohocken and through Conshohocken.

A warrant was issued for Dutkiewicz’s arrest, and he turned himself in at noon to West Conshohocken Police. Dutkiewicz is charged with First-Degree Murder, Third-Degree Murder, and Possessing an Instrument of Crime. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Henry J. Schireson. There is no bail available for First-Degree Murder, and Dutkiewicz was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27, 2025, before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly-Rebar.
