Villanova vulnerable, Duke may be a lock this weekend. Then NCAA tournament on tap

With conference tournaments in play this weekend, schedules are contingent on day-before results.  So, here’s SGPN’S Colby Dant’s look at the top teams and projected money lines as the finales approach. Then comes Selection Sunday and we will stay with the Philly region teams all the way through the post-season to give you wagering advice and water-cooler wisdom, whether virtual or in-person.  Specific teams and updated selections – all free, all the time — are always available at both College Basketball Experience and at www.sportsgamblingpodcast.com throughout the weekend and continuing until the Final Four closes out the season in early April.

Big East Conference

A $10 wager on Villanova returns $12; $10 on Providence returns $28 and so on.

Villanova +120
Providence +280
UConn +300
Creighton +550

My play here is to take Providence + 280. They are on the other side of the bracket and are playing Creighton without Creighton’s starting PG Ryan Nembhard. Ed Cooley and the Providence Friars are great at winning close games and avoid UConn and Villanova until the Big East Championship.

ACC

Since Duke is a heavy favorite, you would have to wager $17 on Duke to win $10; A $10 wager on North Carolina to win the tournament returns $40.

Duke -170
North Carolina +400
Virginia Tech +450
Miami (FL) +1000

As much as I would love to sprinkle some action on Virginia Tech or Miami I think this is Duke’s tournament to win and a rematch against North Carolina would have the college basketball ratings through the roof. Give me Duke -170.

BIG 12

Here, you’d wager $11.50 on Kansas to win the Big 12 Tournament for a $10 return.  For Texas Tech, you’d wager $10 to win $16.

Kansas -115
Texas Tech +160
TCU +900
Oklahoma +900

With Oklahoma upsetting Baylor yesterday you would think the Kansas Jayhawks at -115 would be a slam dunk but I believe TCU is going to give the Jayhawks a game. TCU just split a series with Kansas in the past 2 weeks and is playing some of the best ball in the Big 12.

Texas Tech at +160 is also tempting because the Red Raiders came very close to sweeping Kansas in the regular season. For my money give me TCU +900.

PAC 12

As above, you’d lay $12.50 to win $10 on pre-tournament favorite Arizona.  A $10 wager on UCLA returns $17.50.

Arizona -125
UCLA +175
USC +500
Colorado +1500

Arizona is the favorite but they just lost Guard Kerr Kriisa for the rest of the Pac 12 Tournament. Plus they are taking on an extremely young Colorado team that just beat the Wildcats in the past two weeks. UCLA +175 is the play that makes the most sense to me. Johnny Juzang is back from injury and the Bruins split with Arizona and USC in the regular season.
