The Wawa at 701 West Germantown Pike in East Norriton was temporarily closed today after the fire suppression system at the gas pumps was triggered. According to a social media post from the Norriton Fire Engine Company, the system’s activation resulted in a coating on nearby cars and people. The fire company conducted decontamination procedures and assisted four individuals exposed to the materials. A professional cleaning company also responded to the Wawa to clean up the area.
It was not shared how the system was triggered.
As of 8:15 p.m., the store is still closed.
