Plymouth Township Changing Name of Diamond Avenue to Conshohocken Road

Plymouth Township’s Council voted 5-0 on July 11, 2016 to change the name of Diamond Avenue to Conshohocken Road. The change comes as the result of the recent closure of the section of Conshohocken Road at Ridge Pike due to the Lafayette Street Extension Project. A couple months ago traffic was diverted onto Diamond Avenue to enter or exit Conshohocken Road at Ridge Pike. Lafayette Street is being extended into downtown Norristown and eventually an entrance and exit to the turnpike will be constructed near Ridge Pike and Conshohocken Road.

According to the minutes of the meeting, Council President Dean Eisenberger stated that “the name changes comes as a result of a lot of confusion from motorists from a traffic standpoint.”
