During its January 20th meeting, Conshohocken’s Borough Council voted 6-0 to authorize advertisement of the Sewer Authority RFB (request for bids) and to authorize advertisement of Ordinance 03-2021 requiring the Borough of Conshohocken Authority to convey the Sewer Authority. One council member, Colleen Leonard, was absent.

When these agenda items were discussed, Borough Manager Stephanie Cecco stated that the borough has an approximately $30 million infrastructure plan that needs to be funded, which could be funded by raising taxes or selling the sewer system. Taking these two steps are part of a process to determine the value of the sewer system. No decision has been made.

During public comment, three letters from residents were read and all were opposed to the sale. The big concern is the eventual hike in rates if sold to a company like Aqua.

This week we will work to obtain the details on the infrastructure plan.
