Colonial School Board member accused of making incendiary and an antisemitic social media post

A Facebook post made by Colonial School Board member Jamina Clay has led to an accusation of antisemitism by a local rabbi. Clay made the post on Facebook on November 14th in which she referred to the Israel Defense Forces or IDF as a “terrorist organization” and Israel’s response to the October 7th Hamas terrorist attack on Israel as the “#gazagenocide.”

In his response, Rabbi Glenn Ettman of Congregation Or Ami in Lafayette Hill stated:

This is reprehensible – end stop. Mina Clay [Jamina Clay] is an elected official on the Colonial School District School board posting LIES and incendiary comments that are not only false information but blatant antisemitism. This does not stand in our community. I will not stand for this. She needs to be shut down and removed from office. Hate speech is not free speech.

Clay first ran for a seat on the Colonial School Board in 2019 on a slate of endorsed Democrats, which lost to a slate of candidates who did not seek endorsement from either party. In 2021, Clay ran as part of an unopposed and unendorsed slate of candidates and won a seat on the board.

The Colonial School Board has a meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. and Board President Beth Patruno shared with MoreThanTheCurve.com that the board plans to address the issue during the meeting.
