During a March 20th meeting of Conshohocken’s Borough Council. the council voted 7-0 to terminate its agreement with the Conshohocken Bears youth football program to utilize A. A. Garthwaite Stadium. The vote follows a series of issues that the borough had with the organization and those who attended its games that were outlined by Borough Manger Stephanie Cecco during a March 7th meeting.
The issue isn’t new. Leading up to the 2021 season, the borough imposed a code of conduct on the organization that its participating parents and fans were to follow if they wanted to continue to use the facility. Issues ranged from illegal parking to drug/alcohol use. According to Cecco, there continued to be issues and they came to a head during the 2023 season when there was the unsanctioned use of fireworks.
The Bears are now looking for a new home field.
