The 3rd Relay For Life of the Conshohocken area residents to Sutcliffe Park on Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a fun fill event that mobilizes communities throughout the country and over 600 countries throughout the world to celebrate survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer), remember love ones lost and raise money to fight back against cancer. It was first started in May 1985, when Dr. Gordy Klatt took the first step of his 24-hour walk around a track in Tacoma, Washington raising over $27,000 to support the mission and services the American Cancer Society provides.
The event encourages survivors and those battling cancer to participate in a lap that celebrates their success and gives over whelming encouragement. Relay For Life also hosts other ceremonies during the event which allow participants and the community to celebrate, remember and fight back.
Games, music, live entertainment encourage people to stay active during the 12 hour event. Some teams also hold fundraisers at their camp site during the Relay. We have many activities scheduled for registered participants to enjoy throughout the day including Zumba, The Amazing Race, moonbounces and much more. Local food vendors will also be on-site throughout the day.
