  4. Gwynedd Friends Coffeehouse welcomes Jim Holton, Warren Cooper, Cindy LeBlanc, and Khary Abdul Shaheed presenting Jazz: Spiritual/ Inspiring, with known Standards, on March 9, 2024, at 8 pm.
     
    The Players:
     
    Jim Holton:
    Pianist, cellist, composer, and arranger Jim Holton has performed extensively in the Philadelphia Area, New York, and New Jersey with several groups, including the critically acclaimed Rhythm and Brass, Orrin Evans’ Captain Black Big Band, and Joe Sudler’s Swing Machine, which backed artists such as Jon Faddis, Clark Terry, Slide Hampton, and Al Grey.
     
    Some of the many musicians he has worked with over the years include bassists Tyrone Brown, Mike Boone, and Charles Fambrough; drummers Byron Landham, Mickey Roker, Billy James, Justin Faulkner, and Cornell Rochester; and horn players John Swana, Bootsy Barnes, the late Larry McKenna, and Clifford Adams.
     
    Among Jim’s recordings are Mike Boone’s Better Late Than Never, Tyrone Brown’s The Magic Within and Bass Works, and Barry Sames’s Celebration. He played on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack, composed by Dr. Maurice Wright, for the documentary film Strokes of Genius.
     
    Warren Cooper:
    Sacred Jazz Teaching & Performance Artist.
     
    Warren Cooper is a seasoned performance artist from Philadelphia, PA who is a Dedicated Voice for Justice & Peace. He is a Musician and Composer, who is a Producer and Broadcaster, who runs a Production Company that Nurtures The Movement For Non-Violent Justice and Peace.
     
    Warren is the featured vocalist and/or music director for a number of ensembles (including The Warren Cooper Sacred Jazz Ensemble, The Faith Fusion Contusion, and Anointed Praise) and has been a featured performer at the Philadelphia Kimmel Center, the Washington National Cathedral and the Chautauqua Institution as well as Jazz Festivals, Churches and Arenas around the world. 
     
    As a composer and arranger, Warren has debuted works internationally in the sacred, secular, choral, and popular music genres as well as Themed Oratorios focused on Spiritual Transformation and Peacemaking. He also serves as a Teaching Artist and Jazz Vocal Instructor for the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Education Program in Philadelphia, PA.
     
    Warren is the founding host and producer of the Gospel Music Radio Program OVATIONS, currently in its 26th year of broadcast. The show airs Sunday mornings from 6:00a – 9:00a EST on the WRTI 90.1 FM Temple Public Radio Network in Philadelphia, which broadcasts throughout eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, northern Delaware, and internationally on I-Tunes Radio and @ www.wrti.org.
     
    Cindy LeBlanc:
     
    Cindy is a busy musician providing flute accompaniment to many live jazz performances in the Philadelphia area. Cindy teaches music and is also a music minister at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Wales, PA.
     
    Khary Abdul Shaheed:
     
    Khary is an in-demand jazz performing and session drummer in the Philadelphia area. Concerning his craft Khary states "...to provide an artistic experience that allows the listener to hear new sounds and experience new feelings."
     
    Doors open at 7:30 pm/ program starts at 8:00 pm. $8.00 CASH donation is requested at the door, night of show. After costs, additional proceeds are donated to the charity of the evening. 
     
    Light food and refreshments are available. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
    Masking is optional. Gwynedd Friends Coffeehouse does not provide masks.
     
    Gwynedd Friends Coffeehouse is a not for profit outreach of Gwynedd Friends Meeting with an all volunteer staff.
