Franzone’s celebrates 70th anniversary with event on February 8th

Franzone’s is celebrating its 70th anniversary as a family business in 2025 and 25 years in its current Conshohocken location. The family started in the restaurant business in 1955 in Bridgeport with the predecessor of Franzone’s, DeJohn’s Steaks. Charles Franzone Sr, along with his brothers Lou and Joe, bought DeJohn’s from their uncle in the 1960s and established Franzone’s.

In 1964, Charles Franzone Sr. opened the location in Conshohocken at the Plymouth Square Shopping Center. In 2000, Charles Sr. and Charles Franzone Jr. moved the restaurant to its current location at 1940 Main Avenue.

Where did the sweet sauce that Franzone’s is known for come from? It was a recipe from Charles Jr.’s great-grandmother. Why is the sauce spiraled across the pie and not evenly spread like most pizzas? Because of its sweetness, the sauce is spiraled on top of the pie to compliment the homemade dough and cheese blend.

To celebrate the anniversaries, the Conshohocken location is holding an event on Saturday, February 8th, from noon to 10:00 p.m. There will be craft beer sampling, DJs, a 360 photo booth, face painting for the kids, a Corona claw machine, giveaways and specials all day, and more.
