Lafayette Hill rabbi encourages attendance at Colonial School Board meeting following antisemitic incidents

Rabbi Glenn Ettman of Congregation Or Ami in Lafayette Hill (Whitemarsh Township) posted a message on social media on June 6th, encouraging the community to attend the Colonial School Board meeting scheduled for Monday, June 9th at 7:00 p.m., following two incidents involving antisemitism at district schools.

Below is the message:

If you were outraged by a parade but silent about antisemitism, then you’re not paying close enough attention.

In just two months, there have been two confirmed antisemitic incidents in our school district—and countless microaggressions that go unaddressed. Yes, some work is being done behind the scenes, and I’m part of those conversations. But it’s not enough, and it’s not visible.

Our kids deserve better. Our community deserves better.

Join me at the Colonial School District Board Meeting on Monday, June 9. Let’s show up. Let’s speak out. Let’s make sure the fight against antisemitism is loud, public, and persistent.

MoreThanTheCurve.com reported on the incidents Rabbi Entmann is likely referring to. The first involved graffiti, including a swastika, found within a bathroom stall at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. The second involved videos created by a student at Colonial Middle School. Following the incidents, the district promised an investigation, but the outcomes of the investigations have not been announced (which isn’t necessarily an issue, as it involves kids).

The meetings are held at Colonial Elementary School, located at 230 Flourtown Road in Plymouth Meeting.
