New Colonial Middle School opened on March 7th

Students and teachers moved into the new Colonial Middle School in Plymouth Meeting on Monday, March 7th. The new school broke ground in October of 2019. The construction timeline experienced a few setbacks due to the pandemic and supply chain issues, but this school year’s target of opening in the spring of 2022 was able to be met.

The new school is 232,000 square feet, which is approximately 42,000 square feet larger than the old building. This can accommodate up to 1,500 students. The new school includes a cafeteria that seats 500, a gym that can hold 1,400, a two-story media center, a common courtyard area with turf that can be used for outdoor classroom activities, and a 750-seat auditorium.

More details about the first day and the school can be found here.
