Plymouth Township police were called to the Guitar Center at The Metroplex in Plymouth Meeting on Saturday, November 2nd, just before 2:00 p.m. due to a woman described as “emotionally disturbed” reported to be waving a gun inside the store and threatening customers. According to police, the store’s management told them that the woman was pointing the gun at the heads of multiple customers while screaming incoherently. During the incident, some customers were able to exit the building, while others hid within the music store.

Officers arrived at the scene just as the woman exited the building, where she was observed holding a gun. Police officers ordered her to drop the gun and stated repeatedly that they did not want to shoot her. The woman did not initially comply with numerous orders from the police to drop the gun, and she pointed it at the police officers several times.
After several minutes, the woman laid down on the sidewalk outside of the store but continued to be within reach of the weapon and remained unresponsive to requests from the officers. Eventually, she laid on her stomach to surrender, and officers approached and took her into custody.
A .38 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol was recovered by police from the scene. The firearm was loaded with eight rounds of ammunition, including one in the chamber.
During this incident, there were an unusual number of people in that section of The Metroplex due to the grand opening event next door at the Eagles Pro Shop. The Eagles’ Brandon Graham was present at the event to sign autographs.
The suspect was transported to Montgomery County Emergency Services, Building 50, for further evaluation. Charges have been filed against the female in this incident. Due to the sensitive nature of this incident, police have not released her name.
The Plymouth Township Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Whitemarsh Police Department and Plymouth Community Ambulance Association.
