Rabid raccoon found in Whitemarsh Township

The Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services has alerted the public that a raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Whitemarsh Township. The raccoon was found on July 21st in the area of Ash Lane in the Lafayette Hill section of the township.

The department shared that if you have been bitten, scratched, or come into contact with the saliva of a raccoon, you should be treated for rabies. If anyone in your household, including a pet, has come into contact with a raccoon, you should call the Montgomery County Department of Public Health’s Division of Communicable Disease Control at (610) 278-5117.
