Storage Facility in Conshohocken Awarded Grant for Solar Project

State Representative Mary Jo Daley announced today that CubeSmart TRS was awarded a state grant for a solar project at its storage facility.

The $92,318 Solar Energy Program grant was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority board. The grant will assist CubeSmart TRS in purchasing the equipment to construct a roof-mounted solar array at its storage facility at 401 Alan Wood Road.

The installation will cost approximately $250,000 and when completed will provide 90 percent of the existing energy consumption at the facility. The solar panels will generate 125,772 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

“I’m happy to see a forward-thinking local business pursuing solar energy,” said Daley, D-Montgomery. “We should be encouraging more businesses and organizations to work on becoming energy efficient, and I’m pleased to see the state encouraging innovation with these grants.”

The Solar Energy Program provides grants and loans to promote the use of solar energy in Pennsylvania.
