Animal control ordinance passed in Conshohocken

During the January 19th meeting of Conshohocken’s Borough Council, the council members voted unanimously to approve an animal control ordinance. Following the passing of the ordinance, three animal control officers were sworn in. The three officers work for a third party, so any one of the three could work in the borough when needed.

As MoreThanTheCurve.com reported, the initial language of the ordinance, placed several restrictions on the keeping of chickens. This language was completely removed due to public input against it.

The other controversial portion of the ordinance involved the feeding of feral cats. That language was kept but was clarified that feeding cats will only be investigated if the cats are reported to be a nuisance. A civil case could also be brought against those feeding the cats.
