Representative Madeleine Dean photoshopped a pink mask onto an old photo in an effort to riff on Mean Girls

The politics of mask-wearing just got a little stranger tonight. Someone sent us a social media post made by conservative talk radio host Don Beishl Jr. that claimed United States Representative Madeleine Dean photoshopped a mask onto an old photo.

We dug through Dean’s Facebook page and sure enough, the photo that was posted today with a mask was originally posted on April 24th with no mask.

In the photo with the mask, the fake mask is pink and the photo is tagged with #onwednesdayswewearpink, which is a line from the movie Mean Girls. The text of her post is also a riff on the conversation about the word “fetch” from the movie. It reads:

Like, stop trying to make virus spreading happen, it’s *already happened*, wear a mask or you can’t sit with us. #OnWednesdaysWeWearPink

Dean, a Democrat, represents the 4th Congressional District, which includes almost all of Montgomery County. She will fact Republican Kathy Barnette in November’s general election.
