Conshohocken-based David’s Bridal to layoff just over 9,000 employees

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on April 14th that Conshohocken-based David’s Bridal has submitted a notice to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry that it would be laying off 9,236 people across the country in three phases between mid-April and mid-August. In a quote offered to the Inquirer, company spokesperson Laura McKeever stated “We are evaluating our strategic options and a sale process is underway. At this time, there are no updates to share.”

On April 7th, The New York Times reported that the company was considering filing for bankruptcy. It previously went through the bankruptcy process in 2018 and 2019.

The notice on the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry website shows that in Pennsylvania, the layoffs will impact 15 stores in nine counties. Three of those locations are in Montgomery County. The specific stores are not named. The Inquirer article states that a question to the company on whether the impacted stores would close was not answered.

There is also not any specific mention of layoffs at the corporate headquarters at 1001 Washington Street in Conshohocken (Whitemarsh Township).
