Dedication ceremony for the Whitemarsh Township Veterans’ Monument, known as “Hero’s Ground” to be held on Saturday, November 6th

A dedication ceremony for the Whitemarsh Township Veterans’ Monument, known as “Hero’s Ground” will be held on Saturday, November 6th at 10:00 a.m. The monument is located at the corner of Germantown Pike and Joshua Road in Miles Park in Lafayette Hill. Whitemarsh Township donated the land.

The keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Maureen Weigl, deputy adjutant general for PA Veterans Affairs. Brigadier General (PA) Weigl was appointed Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs on April 12, 2021. In this position, she supervises the administration of state veterans’ programs, reintegration and outreach, and veteran initiatives for nearly 800,000 veterans and their dependents. She also oversees the operation of the commonwealth’s six veterans’ homes.

Brigadier General Weigl retired from the Army in May 2016 after serving for 25 years. Since her retirement, she has started her own woman-owned/service-disabled Veteran-owned small business, where she provides government consulting, talent management, and recruiting services.
