On Monday, June 5th, the Colonial School District’s Board of School Directors appointed Eileen Carr as the new principal at Ridge Park Elementary School in Conshohocken. Carr most recently served as principal of the Shawmont School, a K-8 school in Roxborough.

“Eileen Carr has an outstanding reputation in the educational community. We are pleased to add her to our administrative team,” said Superintendent Dr. MaryEllen Gorodetzer. “She is a strong, innovative leader and excellent communicator with a solid background in school improvement planning and staff development. I know she will be quickly embraced by the Ridge Park and Colonial communities.”

Ms. Carr has served on the Principal Selection Committee for The School District of Philadelphia and was selected as a Neubauer Fellow by the school district for the 2015-2016 school year. Neubauer Fellows are select, high-performing principals who demonstrate competency in setting a school-wide vision, creating a school culture that develops and engages staff and is focused on student achievement, identifying exemplary instructional practices, efficiently managing school operations and communications and nurturing a safe supportive environment for students characterized by high expectations.

“I am excited to be joining the Ridge Park family and Colonial community,” said Ms. Carr. “I am looking forward to serving the families of Colonial School District and having a positive impact on the children of Ridge Park.”

Ms. Carr holds a B.S. in Education from Temple University and a M.Ed. with a specialization in Special Education from Arcadia University. She earned her Principal Certification at Cheyney University. She replaces Mr. Jared Gamble who has decided to return to the classroom.

“I am grateful to have served as the Ridge Park principal. My time there has been a highlight of my professional career,” said Mr. Gamble. “I look forward to continuing my career in the Colonial School District in an instructional position.”
