Montgomery County pushing to reopen Butler Pike in December

Yesterday the administrator of the Butler Pike Abyss Facebook Group stated that someone within the “township” had shared with him that Butler Pike was scheduled to reopen on December 5th.

We attempted to confirm this information with Montgomery County, which owns the closed portion of Butler Pike. The county would only refer us to a late August update that states, “This project is on schedule, and Montgomery County Roads and Bridges Division continues to push to reopen Butler Pike in December 2020.”

Butler Pike has been closed between Germantown Pike and Plymouth/Flourtown roads since August of 2018 due to a series of sinkholes in a sensitive area involving multiple utility lines and a railroad bridge.

So is December 5th the date? We can’t be sure, but it does look like it will reopen before the end of the year.
