Plymouth Whitemarsh grad Kaitlyn Flanagan set to play in NCAA Tournament for second year

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School graduate Kaitlyn Flanagan is set to appear in the NCAA Tournament for the second year as a member of the Holy Cross women’s basketball team. Flanagan, who helped lead Plymouth Whitemarsh to a state championship in 2022, is a sophomore at Holy Cross and plays guard.

Holy Cross made the field of 64 in the 2024 tournament by defeating UT Martin by a score of 72-45 in the play-in games. Holy Cross will now face No. 1 seed Iowa, which is led by Caitlyn Clark, who claimed the all-time scoring title for NCAA Division I basketball (breaking “Pistol Pete” Maravich’s record).

Since arriving at Holy Cross, Flanagan has been named to the 2022-23 Patriot League All-Rookie Team, was a Patriot League Rookie of the Week (2/27/23), and recognized for academics by making the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll (2022-23).

In the 2023 tournament, Holy Cross lost to Maryland in the first round.

The game against Iowa is on Saturday, March 23rd at 3:00 p.m. and is being broadcast by ABC.
