Montgomery County Department of Public Safety is reporting that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration projection for the Schuylkill River at Norristown (just upriver from the Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth Township, and Whitemarsh Township) is that it will reach major flood stage early Thursday morning due to the rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

The projection is now for the river to reach 20.8 feet at Norristown. Earlier this week it has been just below nine feet. According to the chart released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the record is 25.1 feet.

Montgomery County Department of Public Safety is encouraging people who live and work along the river to take action now to avoid property damage and loss of life.
