Stenton Avenue closure now expected to last through the end of November

The last time Whitemarsh Township provided an update on the Stenton Avenue closure the road was expected to reopen in mid- to late-November. That update was back in mid-October. Today the township issued an update on the closure and the road project is now expected to be completed by the end of November (weather permitting).

From the township’s update:

Work on this phase of the intersection improvements to Stenton Avenue continues. PECO and Aqua are completing significant sections of the work on Stenton Avenue that has allowed our general contractor to start the stormwater installation followed by the road reconstruction.

Work at this intersection involves the installation of designated left turn lanes in both directions from Stenton Avenue and a designated right turn lane from Flourtown Road. Stormwater improvements will also be made at the intersection.

This is one of the five intersections the Township must improve by Court Order and the Court will not let the Township delay the work.

The Township has been meeting regularly with PECO, Aqua and the general contractor to make sure this work is expedited as much as possible.
