Just a couple years ago, if you called 19428 home, you had to figure out which of three Congressmen or Congresswomen represented. Most of Conshy was part of the 7th Congressional District. Ward One fell in the 6th and then the Whitemarsh section was in the 13th.
That all changed with redistricting and now all of Conshohocken is part of the 13th, which makes sense that it is all represented by the same person, but the district includes parts of Philadelphia, which makes no sense.
So Conshohocken is currently represented by Allyson Schwartz (D), who has chosen to not run again so she can run for governor. Most of the attention thus far has been given to Marjorie Margolies, who formally represented the district for one term during the Clinton Administration. She has the media enamored because she is now the mother-in-law to Chelsea Clinton and in-laws with Bill and Hillary. There is one problem, Margolies does not live in the district, so she is looking to move into it soon from Wynnewood.
Other serious candidates are interested and have entered the primary such as Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, State Representative Brendan Boyle (D-Phila) and State Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Montco).
On the Republican, a who’s who of past losers, are considering running including Marina Kats and Dee Adcock.
So keep an eye out for your favorite Clinton turning up in Conshy.
