Conshohocken seeking RFPs to consider continuing the little-used Conshohocken Cab

As MoreThanTheCurve.com reported in August 2025, few people are utilizing the Conshohocken Cab, the shuttle service the Borough of Conshohocken offers at a cost of $260,000 annually. Through a recent right-to-know, MoreThanTheCurve.com obtained the latest data on ridership, and it has not improved from 2025 to 2026 thus far.

The 14-seat Conshohocken Cab debuted in February 2024, offering 20 stops in a continuous loop in and around the borough. The service was geared to provide residents and those in town for work access to entertainment, dining, shopping, and the SEPTA train station. The program is managed by the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association, and the shuttle is provided by Transnet. The Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association was founded in 1990 and describes itself as “a not-for-profit organization inspiring mobility choices for ALL.”

During a June 3rd council meeting, a representative of the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association asked the council to consider advertising an RFP that would extend the shuttle service for an additional two years.

The monthly reports obtained by MoreThanTheCurve.com show that on a monthly basis, there are, on average, seven to eight riders per day of operation. The shuttle runs approximately 20-23 days a month at a cost of $21,666 per month. You can view all reports here.

Following the presentation on June 3rd, Councilmember Ralph Frey (I, Ward 6) suggested that the council discuss and set goals for the program if it moves forward. Councilmember David Bria (D, Ward 4) suggested that a clause be added to the RFP that would cancel the contract for the shuttle’s management if the council did not fund the program.

During the June 17th meeting, the council voted unanimously to advertise the RFP. It was noted that Councilmember Bria’s suggested clause had been added.

Advertising the RFP does not mean the council has committed to continue the service. Essentially, it will receive proposals and will consider whether to continue funding it during the budget process later in the year.

More to come.
